(Video) Mozilla Engineer Margaret Leibovic Talks About Building a Browser Extension with HTML, CSS and JavaScript!

At Hackbright Academy, Mozilla software engineer (and Hackbright mentor) Margaret Leibovic encourages new programmers to try their hand at building browser extensions – these are tools to make your browser do almost anything you want. While browsers are native applications, you can write extensions with working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript!

Watch the full Hackbright Academy Tuesday night tech talk here:

Margaret talks about how easy it is to build extensions to add new features to your browser, both on desktop and mobile. She does some live demos with cats, and gives tech talk participants a peek into some of the tools that browser developers use to inspect and debug the browser itself. She encourages copying and pasting and trying things out – and shares her GitHub for people to begin with.

About the speaker: Margaret Leibovic is a software developer at Mozilla. She currently works on the Firefox for Android team, but has also contributed to desktop Firefox and Firefox OS. Margaret loves the web, open source, running, and food. She is also a mentor at Hackbright Academy! Margaret holds a B.S. in Computer Science from MIT. Follow her on Twitter at @mleibovic.
