Why Should You Learn Software Engineering?
If you’re interested in technology, computers, and problem-solving, then software engineering may be exactly what you’re looking for. Despite “engineering” being in the title, software engineering isn’t really as challenging or technical as it may at first appear. Just like any new skill, software engineering can be hard to learn, so the real question is: is it worth it? At Hackbright Academy, we think it’s worth it, but that may be because we teach it.
Let’s explore why it might be a good idea for you to learn software engineering.
Do You Enjoy Diving Into Problems with Multiple Possible Solutions?
The first question you should ask yourself when looking into software engineering as a possible career path is whether or not you would enjoy the day-to-day work. And, much of the day-to-day work is looking at problems and coming up with solutions through troubleshooting.
If that sounds like a blast, then you should probably learn software engineering, or, you should at least try out coding for a bit to get a better idea of what kinds of problems need to be solved.
Once you know whether or not you’ll enjoy being a software engineer, then you’ll know whether or not you should learn software engineering. Of course, the answer may be no, and that’s okay.

Do You Have Ideas for Improving Existing or Creating New Software?
You don’t necessarily have to have specific ideas related to software right now, but, if you do, then that could definitely mean you should learn software engineering to be able to actually do something with those ideas. After all, wouldn’t it be cool to see your program in action?
You could pursue those ideas alone or as a part of a team. And, if you choose to study software engineering at Hackbright, then you’ll be entering a community of tech from the start.

Do You Want to Change Your Career with Software Engineering?
Software engineering can help you change your career into something you love. That change can come about because you enjoy the tech atmosphere more than other industries or because you simply lose yourself in the challenging day-to-day work that the field brings its workers.
